Our Mission:

MT AGATE advocates for students who are gifted and talented from all cultural, socio-economic, and educational backgrounds to ensure they experience an appropriate and relevant education.

We promote and support awareness of and advocacy for the unique needs of students who are gifted and talented.

We empower students who are gifted and talented by promoting best practices and partnering with  educators, parents, administrators, legislators, community leaders and the general public.

Legislative Highlights of 2019:
AGATE advocacy was instrumental in...

1.  a $100,000 increase to the gifted and talented funding budget line item in the Office of Public Instruction overall budget (now $350,000).

2.  the passage of HB 153, which provides for some accountability and transparency in how gifted and talented funds are expended and how the state tracks gifted and talented students. We heard that Rep. Kelker was grateful for AGATE’s presence "to move the needle on the bill and get it over the finish line."
